In the beginning blossom was just...
A fledgling charity, established by Bridget McIntyre, to continue the work that our sister organisation, dream on (a CIC) had already started - helping women, who were facing challenges and financial hardship, to live their best lives, by offering workshops, coaching and makeover days.
We found that our supporters really appreciated what we were trying to achieve and were keen to donate to our cause so that we could extend our reach to help more people. This was easier in a charitable framework so blossom was born….
In the early days we offered each individual a package of workshops and coaching we felt would benefit them best. We identified a need to help women whose lives weren't working, who faced economic hardship and lacked confidence to take control. We helped people learn how to use their skills and talents well in the world and have an independent life.
In our first year we helped 50 women.
But as we started to grow...
We soon realised that women coming to us needed more. We structured a programme to include a wide range of workshops to help achieve the changes needed and so the new blossom Development Programme evolved, leading to the current twelve workshops, six one-to-one coaching sessions and a makeover day. Women are able to find out about themselves, explore new options and share their successes and challenges in a safe, non-judgmental space, making new friends along the way. This was about delivering sustainable change for all who attended.
Volunteers helped us fundraise by hosting events such as quizzes, charity auctions, retro discos, sculpture trails… and achieving a Guiness World Record for The Longest Fashion Show!
The excitement and camaraderie in all that we do is palpable.
And now we're here...
We were often asked, “What about the men? Men are facing huge challenges and hardship - they need help too.” And they’re absolutely right! In 2020 we ran our first Men’s Programme which was designed especially for them. Naturally there are some topics which are similar but it is very much geared towards men and run by male leaders.
2020 will always be remembered as the year of COVID 19 and lockdown as it has had a massive impact on people. People have faced redundancy, small businesses have failed and people have lost their sense of purpose. Our new Reboot Programme helps people to make sense of what happened and equips them to embrace the future with confidence.
These new programmes are in addition to our flagship blossom development programme and My Confident Self.
Nowadays we regularly help over 100 people a year and it's growing. If you feel you would benefit, please do contact us. Or, if you'd like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you!
