Our Winning Support Group Members
Championing the blossom charity
As Founder of the blossom charity, Bridget is an essential member of the WSG. She is always striving to develop the charity and broaden our reach so that we are able to help even more people. She is passionate about bringing out the best in people and providing the support and encouragement to others that she has had through her life.
In 2020 Bridget was awarded an MBE for her services to women and for the social enterprise and charity she founded 10 years ago. Bridget was also High Sheriff of Suffolk in the year 20/21, learning a a huge amount about the county and meeting the most wonderful people. It was an amazing experience and such an opportunity to have an oversight in this way, during the pandemic.
Jackie had a long career in the financial services industry. One of the most rewarding parts of her role was leading teams and seeing people grow and develop, and achieve goals that they never thought were possible.
Jackie has been involved with the blossom charity since 2012, either as a volunteer coach, helping to organise many fundraising events or more recently leading the WSG. The blossom ethos is a perfect fit for what she feels so passionately about - helping people unlock their full potential to live their best lives.
Clare has been with the dream on and blossom team since 2013, most recently working as our events manager. Clare turns her hand to anything in the office and can often be seen up a ladder fixing heaters, driving the van to move the clothes to the fashion shows or organising our many events such as the sculpture trails and auctions.
Clare loves joining in all the fundraising activities and can often be seen sporting a floral swim hat to promote the charity. In addition to the swim she has run a half marathon along with other supporters of the blossom charity.
Justine completed the blossom Development Programme in 2016, and has been a supporter of dream on and the blossom charity ever since.
In 2019 Justine joined the blossom team to help with the accounts one day per week. Justine also enjoys being on the WSG as she is able to give back by raising awareness and funds for the blossom charity. She has organised events such as coffee mornings enabling the bloomers (people who have previously been on a programme) to sponsor sculptures in our Eye art trails.
Louise is a programme leader and coach for blossom - she is passionate about our individual ability to grow and develop given the skills, support and encouragement needed. She enjoys working with others in a one-to-one environment.
Louise has been a member of WSG since it started and has led and organised our highly successful Auction of Promises on several occasions. She is also very fit and has taken part in the Great East Swim, the Great East Run and Women on Wheels to raise funds.
Joy is passionate about all aspects of Costume and Textiles. Teaching for over 40 years enabled her to build up a diverse knowledge base that included the historical events that have affected people’s lives and how that is woven into the history of Textiles. She joined the Costume and Textile Association about 12 years ago and was amazed by the incredible Norwich Shawls. The fascination developed into a desire to learn as much as possible about a flourishing trade that had disappeared. Being a member enabled her to learn more and spread the word about Norfolk’s Textile Heritage.
Joy joined the WSG as she felt that she wanted to do more to support women whose lives had reached a crisis point. Working with a charity that makes a real difference to people’s lives has proved to be exciting and very worthwhile as there is always something new on the horizon.
